Siemens Transportation Systems has delivered a Cab Secure Radio (CSR) project for the second section of High Speed 1, previously known as the Channel Tunnel Rail link.

The project was completed on time and handed over to Union Railways (North), a subsidiary of London & Continental Railways, to enable Section 2 to commence high speed rail passenger services on schedule on 14 November 2007.

The project management team Rail Link Engineering also contracted Siemens to implement and manage a temporary control centre at Ashford, which was used to test control and communications for Section 2. the company also managed the subsequent migration of this system into the main equipment room.

Siemens acted as principal contractor for the Ashford enabling works throughout, coordinating the other sub-contractors for activities which included installing new power and data lines, and moving air conditioning equipment to reduce noise and improve the working environment.
