Solar film in production

Cardiff-headquartered G24 Innovations has begun full-scale production of its commercial grade Dye Sensitised Thin Film for solar cells

Cardiff-headquartered G24 Innovations (G24i) has begun full-scale production of its commercial grade Dye Sensitised Thin Film for solar cells.

The technology is expected to make solar energy a viable renewable energy option for the first time for a range of new industries and geographies.

The film combines innovative material science and nanotechnology to generate renewable power in a process much like nature’s photosynthesis. The solar cells and products are extremely lightweight, durable and are unique in that the thin film produces electricity in both low light and indoor conditions.

G24i’s facility has two production lines with a minimum capacity equivalent to 30MW of traditional solar cells. The company’s proprietary ‘roll-to-roll’ manufacturing process completes all manufacturing steps in an automated, continuous process. G24i said its Dye Sensitised Thin Film could be integrated or embedded into a wide array of products such as mobile electronic devices, tenting systems, and indoor and outdoor building materials.
