StatoilHydro secures subsea system

StatoilHydro has awarded Aker Kvaerner a £88m contract for the engineering, procurement and construction of a complete subsea production system for its Morvin field in the Norwegian Sea.



The subsea production system for the field will consist of two four-slot manifolds, three horizontal subsea trees, a production control system, steel tube umbilicals, plus a tie-in system and intervention tools. The high-pressure/high-temperature (HPHT) technology is designed to handle pressures up to 15000psi and temperatures as high as 170 degrees.



The Morvin field lies on the Halten Terrace in the Norwegian Sea, located approximately 20km west of the Asgard B platform, some 200km west of mid-Norway.



The completed system is expected to be delivered in May 2009. Manufacturing work for the project will take place in Norway, Aberdeen, Indonesia and Malaysia.
