Water deal for AMEC

AMEC has acquired Hydrosphere Resource Consultants for £1.5m in a move that will boost AMEC’s growing water resources portfolio

London-headquartered AMEC has acquired Hydrosphere Resource Consultants for £1.5m in a move that will boost AMEC’s growing water resources portfolio.

Hydrosphere is a US water resources planning and management company based in Colorado which focuses on the management of surface water and groundwater supply assets. AMEC said this would complement the company’s existing water resources expertise, which deals with urban stormwater management, floodplain management, watershed sciences, and wastewater infrastructure.

Hydrosphere carries out river and aquifer systems modelling, and management and optimisation of the yields of raw water supplies. It also deals with water rights litigation and administration, negotiation and administration of water supply agreements, and modification of water supply management systems to accommodate climate change. The company’s clients include local, state and federal government agencies, special districts, private enterprise, and the legal profession.

AMEC, whose Earth and Environmental division operates more than 100 offices throughout North America, said it could now offer Hydrosphere’s clients a broad range of environmental sciences, geotechnical engineering, infrastructure engineering, and materials testing and inspection.
