ABB has won $34m (£21.3m) from Azerbaijan’s state power utility, AzerEnerji, to supply turnkey substations and power systems for Gyandja, an industrial city in the north west of the country.

ABB will deliver air- and gas-insulated substations and two units of gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), as well as breakers, instrument transformers and surge arresters, and a MicroSCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system that will monitor and control the substations.

The order was booked in June this year, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in late 2008. ABB will be responsible for installation and the commissioning, which is planned for April 2009.
