Neptec wins development contract for lunar rover

Neptec Design Group has won a contract worth CAD11.5m (£7.1m) with the Canadian Space Agency to develop the new Lunar Exploration Light Rover (LELR).

The program will run until 30 December 2012, culminating in extensive field testing in lunar analogue test sites.

The Neptec Rover Team and other team members will bring several innovations to the LELR prototype, including the use of a novel eight-wheeled, skid-steer locomotion system, which will ensure the safe navigation of the moon’s rugged and steep slopes.
