Nexans wins cabling contract for Norwegian gas field

Cabling company Nexans has been awarded a €10m (£8.5m) contract by FMC Technologies to design, engineer and manufacture a static subsea control and chemical injection umbilical for the Marulk gas field on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).

Nexans will design, engineer, procure, manufacture, supply, test and loadout a custom-made static umbilical that integrates steel tubes for fluids and 1.5kV power cables.

The project will be carried out at Nexans’ specialised umbilical facility in Halden, Norway, with delivery scheduled for Spring 2011.
