Wacker and Dow Corning inaugurate silicone site

Munich-based Wacker Chemie and US-based Dow Corning have officially inaugurated their joint-integrated silicone manufacturing site in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province, China.

The combined $1.8bn (£1.1bn) investment, covering one million square metres, is China’s largest facility of this kind.

The integrated site includes a siloxane plant and a pyrogenic silica plant, both joint-owned by Dow Corning and Wacker.

It also features finished silicone production plants that are owned and operated independently by each company.
