Interserve set to refurbish overhead lines in Scotland

International support services and construction group Interserve has been awarded two multi-million-pound contracts to refurbish existing overhead lines for ScottishPower.

The two 132,000V power lines — situated in Connahs Quay and Bangor — require around 40km of overhead line route to be upgraded.

Working closely with ScottishPower Energy Networks, Interserve’s overhead line specialists will upgrade steelwork and foundations on the existing towers, charge conductors, insulators and fittings to extend the life expectancy of the lines.

The projects — due to commence in March 2013 — form part of a significant investment by ScottishPower Energy Networks to modernise the existing infrastructure supplying homes and businesses in the area.
