One of the largest petrochemical companies in Europe, EniChem UK, has ordered a PlantWeb process automation solution from Fisher-Rosemount for a Finishing Area DCS replacement project at its UK headquarters in Hythe.
The PlantWeb solution is hosted by the second DeltaV system to be installed at the Hythe site. The DeltaV is a key control platform within PlantWeb that can be combined with intelligent field devices and digital communications to provide a networked architecture that gives accurate and timely process information. It will be used at the Hythe site to control the tank farm, blending system and the three finishing plant lines.
The previous DeltaV, which controls the site water treatment and demineralisation plant, will be connected to the new system, enabling EniChem to establish a site-wide network with distributed operational and maintenance locations. Also included in the project is a Fieldbus Foundation component consisting of H1 cards that mount alongside I/O modules on the same carrier, as well as Foundation fieldbus pH and temperature sensors.
Due to the modular, compact design of the Delta V, the replacement control system occupies rack space within the existing control room cabinets, minimising installation cost.
