PTC, a leading provider of collaborative product commerce (CPC) solutions, announces an order in excess of one million dollars from Marconi, for its Windchill CPC software solutions.
Windchill advances CPC initiatives by allowing manufacturers to collaborate over the Internet with customers, suppliers and partners throughout the product development process. Windchill’s Web-based approach enables manufacturers to capitalise on enterprise expertise, customer knowledge and supplier innovation, while accelerating the global introduction of products to market with reduced risk and lower costs.
Marconi will use Windchill for Web deployment and rapid migration from internally developed tools, as well as integration with business units from around the world.
This order of 1300 seats takes Marconi’s current Windchill implementation to a total of 3800 seats. The Windchill product will work in conjunction with PTC’s Pro/Engineer product, which is already in production deployment. By using the two systems together, Marconi will be able to make last minute changes to a design without compromising hours of work and testing.
‘With so many new and emerging technology solutions available to businesses, it is imperative that we use every possible means to keep pace with our customer and partner demands,’ said Donald Scelza, vice president of engineering services and best practices at Marconi. ‘With the implementation of Windchill, we not only Web-enable many of our key tools, we a re able to get instant feedback and act upon that feedback immediately. Since we have business units in over 100 different countries, we need Windchill to communicate and collaborate effectively and quickly.’
