Albemarle Corporation, Cytec Industries, and GE Specialty Chemicals, a subsidiary of General Electric Company, suppliers of complementary products in the specialty chemicals and polymer additives industry, have announced they have formed a new business-to-business Internet joint venture, PolymerAdditives.com, LLC.

The purpose of the new venture is to provide a faster, more efficient way to buy complementary brand name products and services directly from trusted suppliers.

PolymerAdditives.com, LLC operates an e-commerce site where customers can purchase a variety of brand name polymer additives from one source with one order. Customers will receive one invoice and one shipment from a centralised supply chain.

The portal gives access to real-time inventory, order and shipping status 24 hours a day, the ability to lower internal handling costs, plus other supply chain advantages. PolymerAdditives.com also permits access to technical information, material safety data sheets, certificates of analysis and on-line seminars.

Each of the three founding member companies has equal equity in the joint venture. Each member brings its own area of specialiszation, complementary products, proprietary technical knowledge and expertise to the venture.

The new site makes available, in one location, an array of complementary polymer additives and services. Customers will be able to purchase antioxidants, antistatic agents, curatives, flame retardants, impact modifiers, UV light stabilizers and process aids. Additional products are expected to be added in the near future.
