Matsushita Electric, best known for its Panasonic brand of consumer electronic and digital communications products, is to introduce a new DVD video player which is compatible with the ‘Nintendo GameCube’.
The Panasonic SL-GC10 will be launched into the Japanese market on December 14th, 2001. There is no suggested retail price.
Since the two companies formed a strategic alliance in May, 1999, Matsushita has been developing a DVD video player compatible with the ‘Nintendo GameCube’, which Nintendo started selling in September in Japan.
The new DVD player can play both DVD-video software and ‘Nintendo GameCube’ games software as well as audio CDs and Panasonic DVD-R discs recorded with the Panasonic DMR-E20 DVD video recorder.
It features a LCD display in the front panel, a remote control, and various sound and visual effects functions.
