$48.5 million CACI contract designed to keep missiles on course

CACI International has been awarded a $48.5 million contract by the US Naval Surface Warfare Centre to provide technical and engineering services to the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile program.

CACI International Inc announced today that it has been awarded a $48.5 million contract with the US Naval Surface Warfare Centre (NSWC) to provide technical and engineering services to the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) program.

According to a statement, CACI will provide software testing and related support for TRIDENT submarine fire control systems.

NSWC Dahlgren, based in Virginia, is the US Navy’s premier weapon system research and development centre. The centre supports TRIDENT fire control systems through its K Department, whose mission is to ensure the systems are always ready for a strategic launch.

With this new award, K Department also extends its support to the Ship Submersible Guided Nuclear (SSGN) program, which is retrofitting ballistic-missile submarines to carry cruise missiles.
