Bombardier Transportation has received an order from the Ports and Railways Authority-Israel Railways (Tel Aviv) to deliver another six 4-car double-deck trains, each consisting of one power car and three trailer cars.

The contract is valued at approximately $47 million Cnd (31 million Euros). The air-conditioned trains, which are scheduled to be delivered between May and July 2004, will be put in service in the Tel Aviv area as part of the project ‘Railway 2000’.

The current order, which is a follow-on order to a contract signed in August 1999, brings to 23 the number of double-deck trains ordered by the Israel Railways. To date, fourteen of these trains have been delivered to the customer.

The new trains will be manufactured and assembled at Bombardier Transportation’s site in Görlitz, Germany.
