Money in the wind

Siemens Power Generation (PG) is to buy the Danish wind turbine manufacturer Bonus Energy, a company that currently ranks fifth among the world’s biggest turbine manufacturers with an annual turn over of approximately 300 million Euros.

Bonus Energy has installed more than 5,000 turbines with an aggregate capacity above 3 gigawatts (GW) in more than twenty countries.

In 2003, the company supplied its turbines for a 166 megawatt (MW) offshore wind farm located at Nysted in Denmark.

In addition to an assembly plant at its corporate headquarters in Brande, Denmark, Bonus Energy has its own newly built rotor blade production facility in Aalborg, Denmark.

Bonus will now become the heart of Siemens’ wind activities worldwide, and the new PG Division ‘Wind Power’ will be based in Brande.

If the Danish competition authorities approve the deal, the sale will be finalised in December 2004.
