EDF Energies Nouvelles has completed the commissioning of the 79.2MW Soma I wind farm in Turkey.
Located in the northern Aegean region in the Manisa and Balıkesir provinces, Soma I wind farm is one of the four largest wind farms in Turkey, comprising 88 wind turbines supplied by Enercon.
The Soma I wind farm was developed and built by Istanbul-based Polat Enerji, in which EDF owns a 50 per cent interest. EDF Energies Nouvelles owns 39.6MW net of the wind farm.
The completion of this latest project is said to represent another milestone in the group’s expansion in Europe. The total capacity commissioned to date by EDF Energies Nouvelles in Turkey stands at 128.2MW gross and 51.8MW net.
