Cloud computing company Iomart Group has invested in a new optical-fibre network that will provide its customers with very fast connectivity and data transition between its data centres and the main UK internet exchanges.
Iomart entered into the 10-year agreement with Geo Networks to deliver high-capacity fibre connectivity to its six UK data-centre locations, which are situated in London, Glasgow, Manchester, Maidenhead, Nottingham and Leicester.
Thanks to the new fibre network, Iomart will no longer rely on routing customers’ connectivity via multiple providers.
The network will provide a 1,860km business-critical fibre superhighway linking the company’s data centres. Connectivity between Iomart’s Glasgow and London data centres will reportedly be four times faster than the current industry average.
