Siemens has received an order from PDM Widnes in Cheshire for the performance upgrade of two small-scale steam turbines that power the company’s carbon-neutral biomass combustion plants.
The PDM Widnes plant is powered by carbon-neutral biomass. Energy produced by this process is sold into the National Grid.
The new contract with Siemens covers upgrades designed to improve plant performance and to enable PDM to qualify for government combined heat and power (CHP) incentives.
The contract is part of a larger plant modernisation project.
