Alcatel-Lucent set to distribute Sub10’s Liberator radio links

Sub10 Systems, a UK manufacturer of millimetre-wave wireless Ethernet bridges, has signed a global supply and distribution agreement with Alcatel-Lucent, a supplier of networking and communication products and services.

Under the terms of the agreement, Sub10’s high-speed, high-capacity millimetre-wave Liberator radio links will now be included by Alcatel-Lucent as part of its metro cell backhaul systems, which are used to provide links to mobile network radios in densely populated areas.

The Liberator wireless links are designed to deliver fibre-through-the-air capacity in congested city centres and other locations where fibre would be too costly or too disruptive to install.

In crowded public areas, the Liberator links will reportedly help to connect the access points in the LTE small-cell layer to the operator’s core backbone network.
