Alstom wins EDF nuclear plant control retrofit contract

Alstom has won a contract worth more than €50m (£40m) to retrofit the Controbloc N20 units for EDF’s 20 1,300MW nuclear power plants in France.

Controbloc N20 is a control system that improves the control of the power plant with various sensors throughout the plant monitoring components such as valves, actuators of pumps, engines and electrical units.

Alstom will add technology based on its latest ALSPA Series 6 control system to the existing Contrabloc N20.

Deployment for the first retrofitted unit is scheduled for spring 2015.
