Sony UKTec set to build mini computer for Premier Farnell

Sony UK Technology Centre (UKTec) has secured a multi-million-pound third-party manufacturing deal to build the Raspberry Pi mini computer.

The company will manufacture more than 300,000 units of the Raspberry Pi for Premier Farnell, a multi-channel electronic distributor that has been selling the device since February 2012.

The credit-card-sized computer, developed by non-profit organisation Raspberry Pi Foundation, is designed to stimulate young people’s interest in computer programming and electronics.
