Raytheon awarded $23.6 million to operate and maintain radar

Raytheon has been awarded $23.6 million to exercise an option on a US Navy contract for services in support of the operation and maintenance of the Relocatable-Over- the-Horizon-Radar (ROTHR) systems.

Under this option, Raytheon Technical Services Company will continue to provide operation and maintenance, engineering, and training services.

ROTHR is a high frequency radar system designed and built by Raytheon to provide early warning of strikes against aircraft carrier task forces.

Especially suited for long-range surveillance of large open water areas, the ROTHR systems have been successfully re-deployed for long range detection and monitoring of air traffic in the US government’s war against drugs.
