Kavlico’s sCAP 1 barometric absolute pressure (BAP) sensor chip is based on a silicon MEMS capacitor.
As the capacitance of the sensor varies with the external pressure applied on it, the capacitance values are electronically converted into a DC Voltage output of 150 to 200 millivolts by an on-chip signal conditioning circuit.
The sensor chip itself, measuring just 1.5 x 1.2mm, features a 1.5 to 5.0 VDC operating range and draws less than 1 mA of current at 1.5 Vdc.
It is available in pressure ranges of 0 to 240 KPa (0 to 1800mm Hg) absolute and can withstand an overpressure of 2X the range. It has an operating temperature range of -20 degrees to +40 degrees C.
