Flyington Freighters Private Limited has placed a $715m order with Pratt & Whitney for PW4000-100 engines to power its new fleet of A330-200F aircraft.

Under the terms of the contract, Pratt & Whitney will provide installed and spare PW4170 engines for 12 firm aircraft. Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners will also provide long-term service for the engines.

Flyington will be the first carrier to operate the Airbus A330 freighter (A330F) variant, as well as the first to fly the PW4000-powered A330F with the Advantage technology upgrade. According to Pratt & Whitney, the upgrade delivers enhanced engine performance, lower fuel consumption, increased durability and reduced maintenance costs.

Delivery of the engines is expected to begin in 2009.
