SELEX S&AS has received two of the twelve awards at the Cranfield School of Management Best Factory Awards

Edinburgh’s SELEX S&AS has received two of the twelve awards at the Cranfield School of Management Best Factory Awards, which honours the UK’s top manufacturing plants.

SELEX S&AS, a Finmeccanica company, was named ‘Best Electronics and Electrical Plant’ for the second time in three years and also received top honours in the ‘Supply Chain’ category at an awards ceremony held at the London Hilton Hotel on Friday 21 September 2007.

Operations Director, Graham Russell, said, ‘The Cranfield School of Management’s Awards for Manufacturing are amongst the most prized awards in UK manufacturing and our success is testimony to the hard work of the whole team.

‘This is the second time that we have won this top award which says a lot about the consistently high standards that our people achieve. To know that we have won it in competition with companies that we both admire and respect is a great honour for us and so I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the professionalism and commitment of the staff at our Edinburgh site and to thank them for the part they played in winning this award.’

With almost 2000 staff, SELEX S&AS Edinburgh has more than 60 years of product and technology expertise. From creating gyroscopic gunsights for spitfires in the Second World War to creating innovative technology which protects today’s generation of aircrew, this legacy has helped SELEX S&AS to remain at the forefront of emerging technology and the Edinburgh site is now recognised as one of the most advanced manufacturing centres of excellence in Europe.

Today, SELEX S&AS provides a wide spectrum of protection and security systems with applications on land, at sea and in the air and is the UK’s leading company in the fields of defence electronics and homeland security.
