Parker Hydraulics has supplied a hydraulics solution to VDL Steelweld for use in its Cultivit soil treatment machines which can help increase crop yields by 150 per cent


Parker Hydraulics has supplied a hydraulics solution to VDL Steelweld for use in its Cultivit soil treatment machines, which can help increase crop yields by 150 per cent.



VDL Steelweld’s technology replaces traditional soil treatment processes which have been banned or restricted in recent years with a much more environmentally friendly alternative.



The Cultivit solution combines a number of technologies into a single agricultural tool used to sterilise the soil and control pathogens and pests. A self-propelled rotary spader, driven by solid crawler tracks, vigorously mixes the soil particles with clean, dry air ultra-heated to 800oC.



Parker, whose UK operation is based in Hertfordshire, supplied its F11 motors to driver the heater and burner fans in the Cultivit’s air treatment solution and an F12 motor for the rugged rotary spader, and PGP series gear products drive the cooling fans. It also supplied a motor to drive the unit, pumps, a manifold, a welded lift cylinder, filters and hoses.



The Cultivit machines can also be remotely controlled using Parker technology.
