SciSys, the supplier of space, defence and public sectors IT services and solutions, has bought VCS AG, which provides IT solutions for broadcast and space, for €16.7m


SciSys, the supplier of space, defence and public sectors IT services and solutions, has bought VCS AG, a German company which provides IT solutions for broadcast and space, for €16.7m.



VCS’ broadcast division provides integrated IT systems for the production and playout process of radio, TV and new media for both German domestic and international professional broadcasters. Solutions are built around VCS’s family of niche software products which provide ongoing support and maintenance income.



The Space sector supplies framework-based ICT (information and communications technology) system solutions and components and applications for satellite meteorology to European and German space agencies.



SciSys, headquartered in Chippenham, Wiltshire, is funding the acquisition with the issue of shares valued at €2.4m and €14.3m in cash.



According to SciSys, the acquisition is in line with its stated strategy of using its cash assets to enhance earnings per share through organic growth and strategic acquisition. The company said it would support its policy to broaden access to markets both geographically and vertically and enhance margins by developing and leveraging its intellectual property and the reuse of software.
