Nexans to provide cables for Slovakian nuclear plant

Cable company Nexans is supplying around 5,000km of specialised low-voltage (LV) power, control and instrumentation cables for the new Units 3 and 4 pressurised water reactors (PWRs) currently under construction at the Mochovce nuclear power plant in Slovakia.

The contract, exceeding €20m (£17m) was awarded to Nexans by Slovakia’s electric utility, Slovenské Elektrárne.

The cables for the Mochovce nuclear power plant are being manufactured in the Nexans Mehun-sur-Yèvre plant in France and will be installed on site over a 12-month period, starting in January 2011.
