Italian job in Venezuela

Maire Tecnimont, a Rome-based engineering group, has been awarded a contract by Polinter to build a petrochemical plant in Venezuela for €90m.

The plant will be located in the petrochemical complex El Tablazo in the northwestern Venezuelan state of Zuli. It will be operated through Maire Tecnimont’s engineering and construction subsidiary Tecnimont SpA, which will also produce and install the new plant’s equipment.

The state-owned Petroquimica de Venezuela, a manufacturer of petrochemical products, is one of the shareholders in Polinter, and the new petrochemical plant will be built as part of the Venezuelan programme Independencia, due to start in 2011.
