JLR wants grads to build bridges from newspaper

Jaguar Land Rover has launched a new competition requiring students to engineer bridges using only newspaper.

The competition, which closes on October 19, is the first in a series of mini engineering challenges that JLR will be running to raise awareness of its graduate programme. Bridges must be built with as long a span as possible using just one newspaper, and with no additional materials such as string, paper clips, wood or glue.

Entrants need to upload photos of their bridges to Instagram before October 19.

A clearance of at least 100mm between the ground and the bridge deck is required. Once complete, entrants need to take pictures of their bridges with a measuring tape in the frame to illustrate the length. Images must then be uploaded to Instagram, using the tag @JLR_Graduates.

Further details and a short video explaining the rules can be found on the JLR Graduates Instagram page

JLR is also currently accepting applications for its 2016 graduate programme intake. Entry for that closes on December 31 2015, and more information can be found here.
