Job prospects continue to fall

One of the most respected indices of UK employment trends paints a dreary picture for the general engineering sector. QSEP (Quarterly Survey of Employment Prospects – carried out by Manpower) indicates that while 23% of employers in this sector are buoyant about job prospects over the next quarter, 10% have forecast job losses. The balance of 13 is eight points down on the same period last year.

This bad news continues a downward trend which began in 1995, and sees the engineering sector failing to outperform the national average for the first time since 1984.
