John Deere to build $60m engine plant in China

US agricultural machinery maker John Deere is to build a $60m (£37m) factory to manufacture engines for equipment that it builds in China.

This is the company’s sixth engine factory worldwide. These factories are all located to support facilities that manufacture Deere’s agricultural, construction and forestry equipment.

The new factory, which will be located in the Tianjin Economic and Development Area, a location in which Deere already has other facilities, could start production in late 2013.

Deere presently has engine factories in Argentina, France, India, Mexico and the US.
