Have you ever wondered how Damon Hill stays so cool, even when he glimpses Michael Schumacher in his rear view mirror. The Jordan racing cars are cooled by two standard Papst 6in AC fans (see bottom left) which are fitted to a special pod that blows cool air into the engine compartment. The fans stand up to all that Formula 1 has to throw at them and without them the cars would overheat before they got off the grid as internal fans are not fitted to save weight. In very hot conditions the race team even use the fans to blow air across dry ice for extra cooling.
