has been chosen by the

Water Corporation of Western Australia

to design and construct the $387 million Perth Seawater Desalination Project.

The Multiplex Degremont Joint Venture brings together Multiplex Engineering and the Australian branch of France’s Degremont.

The Project comprises the design, construction and operation of a 45 gigalitre per year desalination plant to be located in Kwinana, 25km south of Perth, Western Australia.

The project scope includes seawater intake, pre-treatment, reverse osmosis desalination, drinking water potabilisation and a pumping station. Multiplex will be responsible jointly with Degremont for the design and construction of the plant.

The plant, one of the largest water supply/treatment projects ever undertaken in Australia, is scheduled for completion by 30th April 2007, with potable water supplies being progressively delivered following commissioning in October 2006.
