Karsan to build Peugeot vehicles

PSA Peugeot Citroën and Karsan have signed a cooperation agreement to jointly produce the Citroën Berlingo First and Peugeot Partner Origin in Turkey.

According to Peugeot, the Peugeot Partner Origins will be designed for Turkey and export markets outside the European Union.

Karsan expects to start production of these utility vehicles by the end of 2008. It is estimated that around 150,000 units will be produced at Karsan’s Bursa plant in Turkey by the end of 2013.

PSA Peugeot Citroën sold 39,100 vehicles in Turkey in 2007 and holds 6.6% of the Turkish auto market, which is one of the largest in central and eastern Europe with close to 595,000 units sold in 2007.
