Fork-lift truck maker Lansing Linde has standardised its design function on Unigraphics software for all new product development projects, with a £500,000 investment that includes 39 seats of the software at the company’s offices in Basingstoke, Hampshire, and Blackwood, South Wales.
The move follows a group-wide evaluation of CAD/CAM software for Lansing Linde and its parent company, Linde AG of Germany.
The decision should lead to more eye-catching design and styling in the hard-fought fork-lift truck market, as designers take advantage of the shorter lead times afforded by more sophisticated software.
`Styling has become increasingly important in the design of moulded plastic components such as cab interiors,’ said Andrew Lockie, Lansing Linde’s CAD/CAM systems manager.
