Last week’s poll: Engineering careers around the world

Which of these countries has the best measures in place to attract people into careers in engineering?

Not many of the world’s major manufacturing nations have their acts together when it comes to attracting people into engineering careers, according to our poll; least of all the UK. Of the 236 respondents to the poll, only 7 per cent thought the UK had the best measures in place to attrcat prospective engineers into the fold. In fact, only Germany managed to attract significantly larger support, winning a clear majority of votes with 56 per cents. The US gained 12 per cent of support, Japan 10 per cent, electronics giant South Korea 8 per cent, and 7 per cent declined to pick an option; with one commenter suggesting we should have included China and India in the poll options.
