What should be the new government’s priority with respect to engineering?

A relatively modest response to our poll last week, with only 324 readers replying. Perhaps politics fatigue has set in? By far the most popular response, with 49 per cent of the vote, said that the STEM budget shoild be increased to match rhe US or German budgert in terms of percentage of GDP, while 16 per cent thought that assistance for companies to offer meaningful apprenticeships sdhould be established. A similar number, 15 per cent, thought the governmnt should commit to evidence-based policy-making, while 12  pwer cent thought that renegotiation of EU membership should take precedence. Just 4 per cent thought every department should have a science adviser.
