Virgin Galactic’s first in-flight rocket test brings the advent of space tourism closer. Is it likely to take off?
More than half the respondents to last week’s poll, 58 per cent, said that space tourism is always going to be too expensive for most people, while 16 per cent said that a brief suborbital flight is never going to be any more than a novelty. About a quarter of respondents were more optimistic, with 14 per cent saying that there will be enough interest in Virgin Galactic’s zero-gravity jaunts to keep bookings up, while 13 per cent believed that the technology could lead to a new era of air travel.
