License to clean

Tenneco has signed an agreement to acquire licenses from Clean Diesel Technologies for mobile retrofit emission control applications in on-road and off-road vehicles.

Under the terms of the agreement, Clean Diesel will receive upfront fees and per-unit royalties for the applications, which can also be used in railroad and marine markets. Tenneco is a $4.7bn company that designs, manufactures and markets emission control and ride control products and systems for the automotive industry.

The license agreements cover technologies including mobile applications for Clean Diesel’s ARIS airless reagent injection system and technology, which controls nitrogen oxides emissions through selective catalytic reduction. Furthermore, Tenneco will be able to work with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and serve as the Tier One supplier and systems integrator for emissions solutions, integrating ARIS into its existing product portfolio.
