Telford-based Lightship Group has broken the world airship speed record. Flying at 800ft over a 1km course above a small Midlands airfield, pilots Mike Kendrick and Jim Dexter hit 94.7km/h, smashing the previous 77.5km/h record. Lightship Group, the world’s largest airship operator, owns 15 of the world’s 18 craft. It was involved in Richard Branson’s global ballooning attempt last year.
