Lotus takes a different approach to fastening

Demands for weight and material reductions within the automotive industry have led to the increased use of thin metal sheets. The Lotus Elise uses just such sheets, with fastening through Ejot FDS screws.

By means of speed and end load, the sheet metal material is heated up by the screw tip and, whilst penetrating the sheet, a through draft is formed which is three times the original sheet thickness, and two to three complete metric threads are formed.

The system allows a safe and quick assembly of steel sheets in one operation, reducing assembly times and materials costs.
