Low cost Digital Signage from Onelan drives into Mass Transit market

April 2007 – The new NTB (Net-Top-Box) 115 from specialist Digital Signage ONELAN, is being accepted into mass transit markets, such as buses and trams. The NTB115 has a 12V power input that simplifies integration into mobile applications. It can also be used with wireless connectivity to enable media update schemes when buses are in a depot over-night.

Based on a 1GHz VIA C3 processor and retailing at just £1395, ONELAN’s NTB115 provides DVD-quality video on any plasma, LCD or display screen plus a wide selection of free-to-air news channels for information display. Other markets include large organisations such as hospitals, schools, corporate buildings, restaurants and hotels. ONELAN’s NTBs accept a wide range of video, animation, stills, audio and text media from sources including disc, Ethernet, Internet and TV aerial.

Comments David Dalzell, ONELAN’s Managing Director: “On buses, trams and trains people need to be informed about safety issues and procedures. Moreover, when travelling, they are a captive audience which may benefit from other messages. Our Net-Top-Box is the easiest and most-effective way of delivering the right message, to the right person at the right time. We provide full training and technical support, and the boxes are very user-friendly and easy-to-use.”

The desktop NTB115, which measures 293x270x63mm, fits on a 2U shelf, offers a storage capacity of 256mb RAM with 80GB disk and operates with 60 watts external power brick. The box uses 10/100BaseT LAN interface. High resolution Video Out is 15 way ‘D’ type – VGA with 4×3, 5×4 and wide screen modes (landscape orientation), with Baseband TV Signals In and Out delivered by RCA Jack (composite) and Mini DIN (S-Video).

About ONELAN

ONELAN was originally formed in Oxfordshire (UK) in 1988 and focused on high speed networking products. Since mid-2001, the company has focused on development and manufacture of Digital Signage media players interconnected by IP networks. It has developed leading edge hardware appliances and software products that deliver ease of use, manageability, network security and scalability to the world of Digital Signage – especially in ‘foyer-like’ environments.

ONELAN aims to provide scaleable Digital Signage systems that employ familiar Graphical User Interfaces to distribute, control and monitor the playout of all popular Digital Signage media types via Terrestrial and sometimes Satellite, networks.

ONELAN’s core product is a Digital Signage media player called the Net-Top-Box (NTB). The NTB satisfies user demands in the foyers of Schools / Universities, Corporates, Hospitals, Visitor Attractions, Manufacturing Plants and some Retail applications.

In the UK, ONELAN’s products are sold through a network of Integrators / Resellers who add training, installation services and supply associated display products in order to complete a customer requirement for Digital Signage. In non-UK territories, ONELAN engages Distributors who provide support to a local network of Resellers.
