Made in Midlands elects new president

John Faulkner, managing director of Cab Automotive Limited has been elected as president of the Midlands based manufacturing network Made in the Midlands.
As managing director of Smethwick based vehicle interiors specialist Cab Automotive, a Tier 1 supplier to most of the UK automotive OEM’s, Faulkner has seen the company grow to a current turnover of circa £20m, having created 120 midland manufacturing jobs since 2009. The company continues to invest and develop new processes at a rapid rate, with plans to recruit for a further 100 positions within the next 12 months, with a keen focus on apprentices.
In his new role, Faulkner will be spearheading a council of 30 industrial decision makers, with the remit of steering the strategic direction of the private membership network, a platform through which over 270 manufacturing and engineering firms currently collaborate.
The newly formed council will also function to enable members to reach a consensus on issues important to industry. With a politically neutral focus, the council will reinforce a grass-roots relationship within the SME manufacturing and engineering sector in the region.
