Derbyshire-based Midlands Engineering Industry Redeployment Group (MEIRG), which supports engineers’ career development, has presented its successes to an EU think-tank.
The MEIRG project, launched 18 months ago, was presented as a successful model by project manager Jan Staley at the Career Guidance Conference which was held by the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop). Cedefop is the European Union’s reference centre for vocational education and training and provides information on and analysis of vocational education and training systems, policies, research and practice.
The conference brought together policymakers at European and national levels to look at career guidance in the workplace, trends and gaps, and ways to broaden guidance services for people throughout their employment lifetime.
Staley, said: ‘I explained the project’s aims, objectives and outcomes to date and the delegates were particularly interested in ERIC, our mobile resource centre which has 10 on-board computers for job-searches and CV creation.’
