Epsom-based

MetaSphere

has won a significant order from

Anglian Water

for the supply of 300 MM3P remote telemetry units (RTUs) and associated analysis and reporting software for its pollution prevention operations.

The RTUs will be used to help Anglian Water better manage and understand its pollution prevention operations and will be installed on the company’s extensive regional telemetry system, already monitoring over 12,000 separate locations in their clean and waste water networks. Users will access web-based reports showing the information collected from these new sites.

According to MetaSphere, pollution prevention is a big issue for water and wastewater companies. The issue is that in the event of abnormal flow conditions combined sewer systems often have to discharge to prevent the sewerage network becoming overloaded and flooding into populated areas.

According to MetaSphere's managing director, Steve Mustard: ‘Our solution monitors levels at key points in the sewerage network and returns the data via GPRS to a central processing and display system that provides overviews of status information and access to data for incident analysis, modelling and investment analysis. A range of alarm criteria can be set so that incidents can be reported as they are starting to happen, giving the maximum time to respond.’
