MGWSP named preferred bidder

Integrated highways services company MGWSP has been named as preferred bidder for Northamptonshire County Council’s sustainable transport highway services contract.

The long-term contract includes the provision of corporate services, consultancy and operational delivery and has an approximate value of £320m over eight years, with a potential four-year extension. The contract commences in March 2008 with an estimated value to May Gurney of £160m over eight years.

MGWSP is an equal joint venture formed between May Gurney, the support and construction services provider, and WSP, the design, engineering and management consultancy, to deliver integrated local government services.

Northamptonshire County Council’s cabinet member for roads and transport, Councillor Bob Seery, said: ‘MGWSP will play a key role in the development of highways programmes and projects. The contract will look to develop and bring forward innovations in highways management using all the latest technology to secure the best value for money.’
