MoD launches competition for armed forces training facility

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is launching a competition for a new multi-million-pound development to improve training facilities for the armed forces.

The purpose-built facility will be located in Worthy Down, near Winchester, and will comprise the majority of logistics and personnel administration training for the Royal Navy, the British Army and the Royal Air Force.

The development, expected to cost between £200m and £300m, will provide training facilities and living accommodation for up to 2,000 students and staff from the armed forces.

The Defence Infrastructure Organisation, the MoD’s property and service provider, is now looking for potential developers to bid to build the new facility. It is hoped the development will be completed by late 2018.
