Money for demilitarisation

The US Army has awarded General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems a $7.9m modification to an existing demilitarisation contract.

a $7.9m modification to an existing demilitarisation contract.

This latest award for the demilitarisation of obsolete and excess ammunition brings the total contract value to date to $80m.

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems currently oversees the recovery and recycling of six types of obsolete US Department of Defense ammunition. To date, the company has demilitarised more than 60,000 tons of munitions. Approximately 95 percent of the processed materials have been recovered for re-use or recycling.

Engineering and program management will be performed in St. Petersburg, Florida.
